Description: An excellent bookshop near the Seoul University front gate in Sillim-dong selling new humanities and social sciences books, generally with a left/progressive flavour. They don't have the broad selection of the big downtown bookshops, but what they do have seems to be very carefully selected. A good place to find the latest history books, see what is being translated into Korean from Western academia and check out what is currently fashionable among Korean academics.

Description: Another good secondhand bookshop near Seoul University, this one is almost directly opposite Kunari omyon (across a busy road, so be careful when your head is in the clouds thinking of cheap books). Also be careful inside since the shelves are high and seem to teeter above your head, while the spaces between the shelves are narrow enough to give anyone a sense of claustrophobia.
