It should be seen as a work in progress, and corrections or suggestions for additions are most welcome. These textual and visual representations, maps, and linguistic data were originally published in European and North American books and journals during the 19th century, but are not easily accessible to those interested in the history of Taiwan today.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/photo.lib.ntu.edu.tw\/pic\/db\/oldphoto.jsp\">National Taiwan University Taiwan Historical Photo Archive<\/a> &#8211; This has a rich collection of historical photographs related to Taiwan. You will have to enter your search terms in Chinese however. For pictures of Taipei (\u53f0\u5317 or \u81fa\u5317) enter the Chinese version in \u7c21\u6613\u67e5\u8a62 box and press the \u9001\u51fa\u67e5\u8a62 button next to it. <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/newnrch.digital.ntu.edu.tw\/prototype\/index.php\">Taiwan National Repository of Cultural Heritage<\/a> &#8211; This search engine works best when you search in Chinese but some English terms produce results too. Includes many old photographs and maps. <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/tcbfm.digital.ntu.edu.tw\/#\">Taiwan Ethnological Collections in Overseas Museums<\/a> &#8211; The interface is mostly in Chinese but once in you can browse information and photographs of many of the holdings of museums around the world related to the peoples of Taiwan. Great for material history.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20180216100821\/http:\/\/www.taipics.com\/\">Vintage Formosa<\/a> &#8211; This was the largest collection of historical images of Taiwan. The site has been since discontinued, but archived versions of its collection remain on the Internet Archive.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <em>Cushing Library Medical Posters &#8211; Taiwan<\/em> &#8211; Yale University&#8217;s Cushing Library has a nice collection of over 40 medical posters, mostly from 1950s Taiwan with messages related to hygiene and health. Search by &#8220;Department of Education, Taiwan.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/findit.library.yale.edu\/?utf8=%E2%9C%93&#038;id=digcoll%3A2819769&#038;search_field=creator&#038;q=Department+of+Education%2C+Taiwan\">This link<\/a> should reach the results. S. Beausset Collection<\/a> &#8211; &#8220;Valery S. de Beausset was an influential figure in budget and development planning during the period of U.S. Aid to Taiwan. An engineer and advisor to the J. G. White Corporation, contractor of many U.S.-aided development projects as well as the consulting firm to the U.S. Government at the time, de Beausset became a leading figure in U.S. Aid to Taiwan between 1950 and 1957. He was instrumental in drawing up a list of priorities for granting American aid.
