Shit, and Chinese History<\/a>,&#8221; Sigrid Schmalzer was kind enough to share this map which she drew based on  the works of the Ming dynasty scholar Li Shizhen (<span lang=\"zh-Hant\" xml:lang=\"zh-Hant\">\u674e\u6642\u73cd; 1518-1593<\/span>) mostly widely known for his <strong>Bencao Gangmu (<\/strong>\u672c\u8349\u7db1\u76ee)<strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It looks to me as if Li was as much concerned with how the meat would taste as with other qualities!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After my posting last year of &#8220;Pigs.
