The planned title of the film is &#8220;Seediq Bale&#8221; (\u8cfd\u5fb7\u514b\u5df4\u840a), and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seediqbale.com\/\">official site<\/a> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seediqbale.com\/demo_5.php\">previews<\/a>.  As you&#8217;ll see from the video the film is in Seediq and Japanese, with either Chinese or English subtitles.  [Warning: the preview has a few violent scenes and may not be for the squeamish]<\/p>\n<p>In Japanese the uprising is known as the <a href=\"http:\/\/ja.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%E9%9C%A7%E7%A4%BE%E4%BA%8B%E4%BB%B6\">Musha Jiken<\/a>.  Interesting tidbit: according to the Japanese Wikipedia entry on &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/ja.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%E5%8F%B0%E6%B9%BE%E5%8E%9F%E4%BD%8F%E6%B0%91\">Aboriginal Taiwanese<\/a>&#8221; (\u53f0\u6e7e\u539f\u4f4f\u6c11), after the Wushe Incident the Japanese officers used the aboriginal headhunting practice to squash the uprising by offering large sums of money in exchange for the heads of the rebellion leaders.<\/p>\n<p>In the same post Kerim also cites the excellent journal article on the Wushe Incident by Leo Ching,  which in an altered form is also included in his book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0520225538\/\"><em>Becoming Japanese: Colonial Taiwan and the Politics of Identity Formation<\/em><\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>Here is the article citation: Ching, Leo T.
