The Christian Occupation of China 1922

A general survey of the numerical strength and geographical distribution of the Christian forces in China, made by the Special Committee on Survey and Occupation, China Continuation Committee, 1918-1921
China Continuation Committee, Shanghai, 1922

Tables and columnar lists are transcribed (including the list of missionary societies, the lists of residential centres, institutions and cities, and the corrigenda); the running text, the maps, the graphs and the index are not. Table pages were found from contact sheets by Claude Sonnet 5.5. Pages with dense tables (about ten or more columns or very small type, including the hsien tables of Appendix A) were read once by Claude Sonnet 5.5 from three full-width crops; the others once by Claude Haiku 5.5 from two crops. Tables continued over pages were joined where the column headings match. A few tables were spot-checked against the scan by eye and agreed; the rest were not checked by eye. Printed totals are checked automatically and differences noted; figures the model could not read are marked [?]. The Chinese society names in the list of missionary societies are printed right to left and are given here in reading order.
