All 451 numbered tables and the 40 international tables are transcribed, with the unnumbered sub-tables printed beside them and the front-matter tables of weights and measures and of currency parities and exchange rates (from the volume's front-matter scan); the contents, the index, the page of charts and the bureau's list of publications are not. The page images are two-page spreads about 2,000 px wide, so the small type was read from enlarged crops. Tables printed across both pages of a spread are joined into one, and long tables read in sections by different readers are joined; where a table is printed as successive column blocks (tables 13 and 77), each block is a separate part. Printed totals were re-added by the readers: totals that do not add up are kept as printed and noted (many differ by one or two units of rounding in thousand-yen figures). Where a digit was ambiguous only between 3 and 8 and exactly one reading made a printed total reconcile, that reading is used and noted. Where the print uses a full stop or a space for a thousands comma, or drops a decimal point, the reader's reading is noted in the table. The volume's errata slip (正誤表, 21 corrections) is attached as a note to each table it concerns; the figures stay as printed. About 120 of some 248,000 figure cells could not be read and are marked [?]; a literal ? printed in the book is kept as ?. A spot check, in which a second model re-transcribed three tables (1,196 figures) independently, agreed on every figure.
