All 257 numbered tables are transcribed, with one unnumbered sub-table and the appendix list of offence-name abbreviations; the contents, the maps, the statistical charts (統計圖表), the prose survey (概說) and the colophon are not. One frame of the scan is a repeat of the previous spread and was skipped. Tables printed across both pages of a spread are joined into one, and long tables read in sections by different readers are joined, by rows or, where later pages add further columns for the same branch offices (tables 30, 166, 183 and 206), by columns. Printed totals were re-added by the readers: totals that do not add up are kept as printed and noted; a few tables (notably 81 and 227) have many branch-office cells that do not add up to the printed totals and may contain misreadings. Where a digit was ambiguous only between 3 and 8 and exactly one reading made a printed total reconcile, that reading is used and noted; in tables 25 and 26 many final digits that have lost their top stroke at a column rule are read as 6 and listed. Small figures printed above a cell (foreigners, half-year taxpayers, quantities) are given in the same cell after the figure; the quantities in tables 230 (Jaluit) and 231 were too blurred to read and are left out. The volume's errata slip (正誤表, 17 corrections) is attached as a note to each table it concerns; the figures stay as printed. About 550 of some 164,000 figure cells could not be read and are marked [?]; a literal ? printed in the book is kept as ?.
