The scanned copy lacks printed pages 7–16 (a printed note on p. 6 reads 7-16缺頁), which held tables 6–23 (climate and the first population tables); the other 220 numbered tables are transcribed, with the appendix table of weights and measures (度量衡比較表). The contents, the maps, the statistical charts (統計圖表), the prose survey (概說) and the colophon are not transcribed. Tables printed across both pages of a spread are joined into one, and long tables read in sections by different readers are joined. Printed totals were re-added by the readers: totals that do not add up are kept as printed and noted; where they looked like a misread digit, the cell was re-read by a reader who had not seen the first reading. Where a digit was ambiguous only between 3 and 8 and exactly one reading made a printed total reconcile, that reading is used and noted. Figures are kept exactly as printed, including points or spaces printed where a comma is expected (in a few heavy-type trade tables points and commas could not be told apart and are given as commas, as noted). Small figures printed above a cell (foreigners, half-year taxpayers, quantities) are given in the same cell after the figure. No errata slip was found in this copy. About 125 of some 79,000 figure cells could not be read and are marked [?]; a literal ? printed in the book is kept as ?.
