All 179 numbered tables are transcribed, with the appendix table of weights and measures (度量衡比較表); the contents, the statistical charts (統計圖表), the maps and the colophon are not. The contents list the tables without chapter headings; chapters are assigned from the 總目次 start pages and, where a table shares a chapter's first page, from the running heads. Tables printed across both pages of a spread are joined into one, and long tables read in sections by different readers are joined. Printed totals were re-added by the readers: totals that do not add up are kept as printed and noted. Where a digit was ambiguous only between 3 and 8 and exactly one reading made a printed total reconcile, that reading was used; every such cell was then re-read by a reader who had not seen the first reading, and cells the second reader could not confirm are marked [?]. Figures are kept exactly as printed, including points, spaces or other marks printed where a comma or decimal point is expected. Small figures printed above a cell (foreigners, quantities) are given in the same cell after the figure; in the trade, agriculture and fisheries tables many of these small quantities and unit marks are too blurred to read and are marked [?]. No errata slip was found in this copy. About 550 of some 74,000 figure cells could not be read and are marked [?]; a literal ? printed in the book is kept as ?.
