All 499 numbered tables are transcribed, with three unnumbered sub-tables printed beside them and the table of weights and measures; the contents pages, the fold-out map of the island and the prose overview (概說) are not. The NDL scan is low-resolution and often blurred: about 1,710 of some 146,000 figure cells could not be read and are marked [?] (in 278 tables), and some column headings and row labels in small type contain [?] for characters that could not be made out. Tables printed across both pages of a spread are joined into one, and long tables read in sections by different readers are joined. Printed totals were re-added by the readers: totals that do not add up are kept as printed and noted (many differ by a yen or two of rounding; on this scan some differences may be misreadings that could not be resolved). Where a digit was ambiguous only between 3 and 8 and exactly one reading made a printed total reconcile, that reading is used and noted. The book's errata slip (正誤表, partly illegible in the scan) is attached as a note to each table it concerns; the figures stay as printed. Small figures printed under a main figure with a mark such as × or △ (e.g. 兼務) are written after it, as in "209 ×24"; where they were too small to read they are given as ×[?] or, in a few tables, left out, as each table's notes say. A literal ? printed in the book is kept as ?. A spot check, in which a second model re-transcribed two tables (285 figures) independently, agreed on all but one cell, which is marked unreadable.
