All 371 numbered tables are transcribed, with one unnumbered block beside table 29 and the table of weights and measures; the contents pages are not. The NDL scan is low-resolution and often blurred, so this volume has far more unreadable cells than the earlier ones: about 2,460 of some 109,000 figure cells could not be read and are marked [?] (in 250 tables), and many column headings and row labels in small type contain [?] for characters that could not be made out. The book prints figures in groups of four digits (8 1897 = 81,897); they are written here with standard thousands commas. Tables printed across both pages of a spread are joined into one, and long tables read in sections by different readers are joined. Printed totals were re-added by the readers: totals that do not add up are kept as printed and noted (many differ by a yen or two of rounding; on this scan some differences may be misreadings that could not be resolved). Where a digit was ambiguous only between 3 and 8 and exactly one reading made a printed total reconcile, that reading is used and noted. Small figures printed under a main figure with a mark such as × or △ (e.g. 兼務, 工賃) are written after it, as in "209 ×24"; where they were too small to read they are given as ×[?] or, in a few tables, left out, as each table's notes say. A literal ? printed in the book is kept as ?. No independent second reading was made for this volume.
