I really like this artwork because it illustrates the differences in culture in a visual way. For the piece on “The Sense of Self,” I feel it demonstrates how those in China are humble and insignificant in relation to the universe, and how people in Germany feel that they are an essential part to the universe and important individuals.
I also enjoyed the piece, “Social Connections.” I feel that it really demonstrates how in Asian cultures everyone is connected to each other in some way, and how in Eastern cultures, social class keep groups of people segregated.
In the piece on “Children’s Relations to their Parents and Grandparents,” it demontrates that in Western cultures children are the center of attention, and how in Eastern cultures children are members of the family.
I got the sense that the child is first with parents in Blue/West screen and grandparents are next inline…not that he was the center of attention. From the Red/East screen I understood that the child is the center of attention among all equally.
