By the understanding reached last year between Japanese and American interests concerned, the Association of Japanese Cotton Piece-goods Exporters to East Asia has been voluntarily restricting the amount of cotton piece-goods exported to the Philippines to 45,000,000 square metres for the period from August 1 of last year to the end of July of this year. In view of the approaching expiration of such period of voluntary limitation

of export, negotiations were conducted between the Japanese and American cotton interests through the good offices of the Japanese Embassy at Washington. These negotiations have satisfactorily been concluded, as a result of which it has been decided to restrict voluntarily the amount of cotton piece-goods to be exported to the Philippines during the period of one year from August 1 this year to 45,000,000 square metres.
