No printed pages are missing from the scan. On p. 482 (Postal Statistics, Appendix 2) the Total row runs off the bottom edge of the scan, so its cells are blank. The fold-out on p. 992a (Maritime Customs Revenue of Each Port, 1920) is included. The warship list is printed across facing pages (pp. 542–545) and its two halves were joined line by line. Six tables that run across pages were transcribed with different column layouts on each side and are kept as separate parts (General Loans, pp. 258–263; Treaty Ports, pp. 219–220; Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Legations abroad, pp. 859–863; Salt Revenue staff, pp. 874–875; British Chambers of Commerce, pp. 970–971). Legal texts (the Provisional Criminal Code, treaties, agreements) are transcribed only where they contain tables or lists. The Contents, Index, advertisements and the folding map are not transcribed. The Who's Who, the List of Factories using Foreign Machinery and the Foreign Banks with Branches in China are on the Who's Who & Directories page. Many printed totals do not add up; the figures are kept as printed and each table's notes say where. The tables were read once; they have not been double-checked by a second reading.
