The scan is complete: every printed page from the front matter to p. 786 is present. The contents pages and the index (pp. 787–799) are not transcribed, and neither are running prose, maps and charts without figures. Treaties, agreements, laws, constitutions and statements (much of chapters 6–13, 27 and 31) are prose; only tables and lists printed inside them are transcribed. Each province's summary block (area, population, hsien, capital) in chapter 2 is given as a small table. The Who's Who (chapter 36) is on the Who's Who & Directories page and the Chronology of Major Events, 1911–1949 (chapter 5), on the Chronologies page. Many figures in the tables are printed out of line with their row labels; they were matched by counting, and each table's notes say where. Many printed totals do not add up; the figures are kept as printed and each table's notes say where.
