Only tables are transcribed; the running text, photographs, maps and the legal appendices are not. Every text page was read. The scan ends at about printed p. 230, so Appendices E–F and the 21 general statistical tables at the back of the book (pp. 257–272) are not in it. Printed totals that do not add up are kept as printed and noted; every such table was transcribed a second time independently, and the few cells where the readings differed went to a third reader (agreement is used, otherwise [?]). The one-sentence context notes are written by the transcriber from the surrounding text.
