Only tables and lists are transcribed; the running text, chronologies, the 目次, advertisements, maps and organisation charts are not. The statistics are printed in very small, condensed kanji numerals, often two or three digits to one character space, and the scan is heavily compressed: many stacks of 一/二/三 strokes cannot be grouped with certainty, so about 8% of figure cells are marked unreadable (red hatching); a plain empty cell is empty in the original. Where the grouping was the only doubt and exactly one reading made the printed total reconcile, that reading is used and noted in the table's notes. A partial check pass re-read the cells flagged by the first readers; every figure it changed was confirmed by a second, blind reading or marked unreadable. Printed totals that do not add up are kept as printed and noted. Weather tables print sub-zero temperatures without a sign, as in the original. The separately printed supplement 朝鮮人名錄 is not part of this copy.
