Pages with tables were found from contact sheets by Claude Sonnet 5.5, which also flagged pages printed sideways (turned upright before reading) and tables printed across two facing pages (read as one table from both pages together). Each page was read once by Claude Haiku 5.5 from full-resolution crops, with instructions to place figures by counting the lines of each block rather than by position, because columns in this book are often printed slightly out of line with their row labels; it was not checked by eye. Unreadable figures are marked, printed totals that do not add up are noted and kept as read, and tables continued over pages were joined where the column headings match. Only tables and columnar lists are transcribed; the running text, photographs, maps, the contents and the index are not. Incomplete scan: the scan ends at printed p. 640, early in Chapter XIX (Foreign Investments), so Chapters XX–XXIV (labour and immigration, education, religion, medicine and sanitation, social welfare), the appendices (directory of government offices, institutions, businesses and newspapers; Who's Who in Manchoukuo; customs tariff; chronology) and the index are missing.
