It is a source of profound gratification for the Japanese Government that the Governments of Germany, Italy, Rumania, Slovakia and Croatia have now accorded recognition to the National Government of the Republic of China. Since their establishment on March 30 of last year, the new National Government have steadily grown in strength, and through the Basic Treaty concluded between Japan and China on November 30 of last year, Japan took the initiative in recognizing that Government and have since been extending the greatest possible assistance to that Government which are endeavouring to forge ahead toward the obejctive [sic] of co-existence, co-prosperity and reconstruction of East Asia.

The fact that the German, Italian, Rumanian, Slovakian and Croatian Governments have recognized the National Government is a telling blow to those who, still failing to be awakened to the great ideal of the establishment of a new order in East Asia, persist in their foolish efforts to oppose Japan. We are convinced, without the slightest doubt, that, with this action of recognition as a turning point, a great stride will be taken toward the establishment of a new world order.
